Walden Family Services has announced the election of four new members to its board of directors: Maryanne Carlin, Rich Hallabrin, Don Parker, and Rita Szczotka.
Maryanne Carlin earned a B.S. in accounting from National University in 1987 and obtained her CPA license in 1989 from the state of California. Over the past 20 years, she has distinguished herself in the accounting and fund-raising fields. Currently, she is in private practice specializing in professional financial management for high net-worth individuals and their families, which combines her love for philanthropy, financial management and tax law. Carlin is a member of the Estate Planning Council, California Society of CPA’s San Diego Chapter, and AICPA. She is an active volunteer at Academy of Our Lady of Peace High School and Our Lady of Grace Development Board.
Rich Hallabrin holds a B.A. in education from Wayne State University. In addition to serving as a public school teacher for ten years, Hallabrin is a communications veteran with more than twenty years’ experience in the field. He has managed the corporate communications function at Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. for the past eleven years. His prior experience covers a broad range of businesses from Fortune 100 companies to local non-profit agencies.
Don Parker possesses more than 25 years’ experience in management and executive recruiting. He is a Managing Director at cFour Partners Worldwide and has clients ranging from Fortune 50 to entrepreneurial private equity-funded and venture-backed companies throughout the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications from UCLA and has been consistently recognized in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Executive Search, The Career Makers, North America’s Top Executive Recruiters, and the 2005 best-selling book, A Marketing Plan for Life. He spent ten years in vice president of human resources positions managing the worldwide recruiting and staffing departments of The Wickes Corporation and Union Bank of California. For six years, Parker was a partner and managing director of Korn Ferry International, responsible for opening their Orange County office.
Rita Szczotka holds a BA in Business with an emphasis in Finance from National University & San Diego State University. Rita spent her first 23 years in the financial industry working with E.F. Hutton, Prudential Securities & Morgan Stanley in the capacities as a Financial Advisor, Sales Manager and Branch Manager. In her quest for both a career and lifestyle change to allow time to volunteer for child-related charities, Rita created her own Worth Collection clothing agency 7 years ago. She is now a Divisional Sales Manager for The Worth Collection. Rita has been an active volunteer for 15 years with the Make-A-Wish Foundation in San Diego and on its board of directors for 6 years. She is also a member of the Capital Campaign Committee for the Monarch School and ongoing volunteer for Child Help USA. As a longtime San Diegan, Rita was Miss San Diego in 1977 and believes in giving back to a great city.
