The county child welfare office calls Walden seeking an emergency placement for a child with special needs. A social worker calls an apartment manager to set a move-in date for a youth. Walden’s new phone system and other technology upgrades —funded through a $19,000 capital grant from Las Patronas – enable our San Diego staff to effectively respond to the needs of the children, youth and families in our care.
For example, staff can now pick up voicemail messages via email and easily access case files while they are out in the field working with youth and families. Las Patronas also funded a sophisticated conference phone that supports group conferencing between our San Diego office, our other office locations and our partners.
Since 1946, Las Patronas has raised more than $17 million through the annual Jewel Ball and other events to provide direct aid to nonprofit organizations throughout San Diego.
