The Walden Family Services San Diego Office serves San Diego and Imperial County. Walden San Diego Office services general placement foster children and youth, as well as, special needs foster children and medically fragile foster children and youth. The San Diego Office also provides Mental Health services to foster children and youth in need of additional support.

New Professional Foster Parents will experience the difference of Walden Family Services through a more comprehensive Parenting Training program called EPIC, which is designed to give parents the tools to manage the variety of behaviors of abused and neglected children and youth. Additionally, Walden provides trainings throughout the year on a variety of topics designed to insure our Professional Foster Parents are equipped with the latest child development and parenting skills available.

Once you have become a Walden parent, you will experience a greater level of support through Walden’s social workers, skills trainers and support staff, including: a 24 hour crisis hotline available anytime you have a question or challenge that needs immediate assistance. Walden also supports its parents through a dedicated Child Activities Fund so your foster child(ren) can participate in summer camps, dance classes, community sports leagues and more.

For parents interested in adoption, Walden’s Adoptions Program will help parents prepare for adoptions through additional training and support. In addition, Walden offers post-adoptive services after the legal adoption services are finalized.

Walden offers one of only a few Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Foster Care Network programs in the United States. The focus of this program is education and advocacy services for LGBTQ foster youth, and training and support for child welfare providers, professional foster parents, and birth families.
