Walden Family Services, a leading provider of foster care, adoption, and transitional housing services, is proud to announce the acquisition of two new transitional housing properties in the city of Riverside. These homes, made possible through the Homekey grant awarded to Walden Family Services in 2023, represent a significant step in the organization’s commitment to empowering transitional-aged youth towards self-sufficiency and independence.

The first of these two remodeled properties includes 6 bedrooms, 4 baths, and 1,627 square feet of living space, complete with dedicated mother-child separated housing. The second property offers 7 bedrooms and 4 baths with over 4,000 sq. ft. of living space.

The Transitional Age Youth (TAY) program at Walden Family Services is designed to empower young individuals between the ages of 18 and 21. It focuses on nurturing their educational and employment opportunities while guiding them towards the path of permanent housing. These new properties will play a pivotal role in achieving this mission.

Teresa Stivers, CEO of Walden Family Services, expressed her enthusiasm for the expansion: “We are excited to strengthen our commitment to the Riverside community and the young individuals we serve. These new transitional housing properties will enable us to offer a supportive environment where our clients can develop essential life skills, access education and job opportunities, and ultimately achieve self-sufficiency as they transition into adulthood.”

As the sole Homekey Project recipient awarded in Riverside, Walden Family Services is dedicated to making the most of the granted funds. These newly acquired homes feature Single Room Occupancy (SRO) units, providing shared housing for multiple transitional-aged clients. In addition to secure housing, Walden will offer essential support services, including case management, education assistance, and job and life skills training.

Walden Family Services, a nonprofit organization established in 1976, focuses on providing critical support to foster and adoptive families across Southern California. Through diverse programs and initiatives, Walden aims to create stable, nurturing environments that enable children and young adults in need to thrive and realize their full potential.
