For five decades, Walden Family Services has stood alongside young people and families across Southern California through some of life’s biggest transitions.
To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we’re inviting our community to mark this milestone by joining
$50 for 50—a special group of supporters giving $50 each month to help build Walden’s next chapter.
Your $50 monthly gift becomes dependable, year-round support that helps expand housing and supportive services for young people transitioning from foster care.
Celebrate 50 years by giving $50 a month and be part of the story still being written.
Housing. Stability. Opportunity. A future to build.
Every year, young people leave foster care ready to take on adulthood, but too many do so without something most of us take for granted:
a safe, stable place to live.
Without that foundation, pursuing college, finding steady employment, saving money or simply planning for tomorrow becomes infinitely harder. The risks of homelessness, exploitation and involvement with the justice system also increase.
That’s why Walden is working to expand our transitional housing capacity and reach more young people before instability becomes crisis. Our goal this year is ambitious: raise $1.5 million to expand housing and supportive services.
When a young person has a safe place to come home to, they have room to think beyond tonight or tomorrow. They can focus on finishing school, finding employment, learning to manage money, building relationships and making plans for the life they want.
Walden combines transitional housing with life skills, education and employment support, and a community of people invested in each young person’s success.
The goal isn’t simply to provide a place to live. It’s to give young people the foundation from which they can build everything else.
And when you give monthly, you help make sure that foundation is there not just today, but month after month.
Reaching a young person before they experience homelessness can change the trajectory of their life.
Stable housing and support can help prevent the crises that too often follow housing instability—and the human and community costs that come with emergency shelter, hospitalization and incarceration. Investing earlier means giving young people a better opportunity to move forward rather than helping them recover after everything has fallen apart.
The best time to change a young person’s story is before a crisis becomes part of it.
Fifty years of generosity, partnership and belief in young people brought Walden to this moment. Now, you can help write the next chapter.
Join $50 for 50 with a monthly gift of $50 and become part of a community providing dependable support all year long. Month after month, your generosity helps Walden reach more young people with the housing, resources and opportunities they need to build independent futures.
Fifty years brought us here. Your $50 each month helps build what comes next.
“I would’ve ended up homeless if it weren’t for Walden’s Transitional Housing Program. Not only did they give me a safe place to live, they were a huge support while I was in school. Just knowing that I could call my social worker, Maggie, got me through the tough times. Walden made me want to pay it forward and help others like me.”
