Los Angeles County Services

Nearly half of all young people who age out of foster care experience homelessness within four years — and in Los Angeles County, current and former foster youth make up a significant share of young people experiencing homelessness on any given night. Walden’s Los Angeles team exists to change that outcome.

From our office in Encino we serve transition-age foster youth (ages 18–26) across the San Fernando Valley, the Antelope Valley, and greater Los Angeles County.

A Safe Place to Live.

Our Transitional Housing Program (THP+) provides stable housing for young adults who have exited foster care, paired with the day-to-day support that makes housing stick.

A Path to a Career

Life skills training, employment experience, and education support give each young person the tools to step into adulthood on their own terms.

A Future in Education

From tuition support to resources and trade school pathways, we help young people pursue the education that fits their goals by providing college-start help and full support.

A Foundation for Family

For young parents, our programs provide practical parenting support and a peer community that says: you don't have to figure this out alone. We're here to help you along the way.

If you’re a young adult who has experienced foster care in LA County, or a DCFS partner, school counselor, or community advocate, contact our Encino office to get started.

With your support, we can open more doors, create more opportunities and ensure more young people have a place to call home as they build their path toward independence.
