THP SUPPORT WORKER (OVERNIGHT SHIFT) – Riverside, CA
EMPLOYEE STATUS: Part-Time NON-EXEMPT
SHIFT: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM and Saturday and/or Sunday
SALARY RANGE: $20 – $24 (Will be commensurate with education and experience.)
PRIMARY SUPERVISOR: Program Director
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Support Workers use their own lived experience in providing culturally humble and trauma-informed services to young adult’s ages 18-21 with the intent of furthering the young adult’s treatment goals and stabilizing their placement. The level of services provided varies based on the needs of each client.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have graduated from high school, or obtained their GED; Associates Degree or higher level of education from an accredited university is preferred
- Experience as a service recipient or caregiver of a service recipient of Children’s Behavioral Health Services, Child Welfare Services, the juvenile justice system, or special education, and/or parenting experience and/or experience with substance use/abuse.
- Experience as a youth educator and experience providing culturally humble services to diverse populations is preferred
- Capacity to work independently in the field, willingness to work collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor and strong organizational skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Original High School Diploma or GED must be provided
- California (or other state) Valid Driver’s License required
REQUIREMENTS: The selected candidate will work closely with Transitional Housing Program Social Workers and staff to assist in providing support services to young adults placed in the THPP NMD and THP Plus Housing Programs. The selected candidate will also use their own lived experience to help provide education and guidance to clients who are parenting and/or struggling with substance use and/or their mental health.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Assist Youth in developing social, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Assist residents to resolve problems and identify ongoing services necessary to help residents resolve problems.
- Provides education, support, and hands-on coaching to parenting youth or youth struggling with their mental health and/or substance use.
- Assists in coordinating services for youth i.e. signing up for a class or providing transportation
- Develops and conducts parenting training groups, youth support groups, and other psycho-educational groups and workshops as assigned by supervisor.
- Document the NMD weekly progress at home, school, and/or work, major incidents, and other significant, collateral contacts.
- Utilizes supervision, consultation, and training to provide high quality services in an effective manner.
- Communicates regularly and provides updates to the youth’s assigned Walden Social Worker about the youth’s progress and current needs
- Ensure a safe, clean, organized, living environment. Supervise as well as participate in household cleaning and maintenance activities.
- Assist Youth with independent life skills (ILS).
- Assist residents to resolve problems and identify ongoing services necessary to help residents resolve problems.
- Assist the Housing Manager with housing tasks when needed.
- Maintains strong commitment to Walden’s vision and values in the services provided to youth
- Maintains availability to work evening and weekend hours, as scheduled, to meet the needs of youth
- Assist with transportation of youth.
- Other duties as assigned by Walden THPP NMD/THP Plus Program Director

THP SOCIAL WORKER I – Riverside, CA
EMPLOYEE STATUS: Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $66,560
PRIMARY SUPERVISOR: Program Director
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The THP+FC Social Worker will be responsible for working with up to 12 non minor (NMD) dependents and/or a ratio of 1 to 8 pregnant of parenting NMD, significant others, placing agency, and adjunct treatment members to enable the NMD to attain his or her goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Be knowledgeable of transitional housing programs and resources for transitional-aged foster youth.
- Be knowledgeable in the Community Care licensing regulations for THP+FC.
- Conduct a pre-placement appraisal with the placing agency and NMD. Explain the program expectations and complete necessary intake paperwork.
- Following acceptance into the program the social worker will obtain intake information and complete a needs and services plan.
- THP+FC social worker will complete initial an update the needs and services plan/ STLP and submit to the supervisor within 10 working days.
- Provide at least weekly consultation to the NMD. Consultation may, but is not limited to discussion of progress towards goals, teaching life skills, teaching parenting skills, public benefits advice, housing advocacy and tenancy training, computer training, transportation assistance, assist in contact with appropriate supportive adults/mentors.
- To provide assistance with managing the NMD’s cash resources, personal property, and valuables
- To provide assistance with maintaining accurate records of the NMD’s bank account, savings, and monthly budget.
- To provide and/or coordinate referrals for additional services, consultants and community resources as needed (i.e. medical, therapy, psychiatric, parenting classes, job training, )
- Document the NMD weekly progress at home, school, and/or work, major incidents, and other significant, collateral contacts.
- Complete special incident reports and any other reports as required by the placing agency.
- Maintain contact with placement worker and inform of any significant events/incidents
- Consult supervisor regarding incidents, significant issues, and possible terminations, and follow-up as directed.
- Meet with supervisor for a minimum of one hour weekly of individual supervision and case consultation.
- Ensure that client files are complete and up-to-date.
- Submit all reports and documentation to the supervisor for final approval.
- Facilitate trainings, and support groups as directed by supervisor.
- Provide on-call crisis intervention. Perform the function of duty-worker at the office as requested.
- At all times project a favorable image of Walden Family Services.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements
- Candidate must have a minimum of a master’s degree in social work or a closely related field, as defined in the State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing regulations.
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
- Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearances from the Department of Justice.
- Must meet all requirements set by Community Care Licensing about hiring employees by a licensed community care facility.
