San Diego County Services

San Diego is where Walden’s story began 50 years ago — and today our San Diego office anchors Southern California’s most comprehensive support hub for transition-age foster youth: young adults ages 18–26 navigating life after the foster care system, often with few resources and enormous odds.

Walden Family Services is contracted by the County of San Diego and licensed by the California Department of Social Services.

A Safe Place to Live.

Through our Transitional Housing Program (THP), young adults in San Diego County have access to stable housing paired with hands-on support because every future starts with a safe place to call home.

A Path to a Career

Our team connects youth with workforce readiness, job coaching, and employment connections that turn a first job into a real career path for TAY Youth who are ready to be employed.

A Future in Education

From tuition support to resources and trade school pathways, we help young people pursue the education that fits their goals by providing college-start resources and full support.

A Foundation for Family

Young parents who grew up in foster care are building families without a blueprint. Our parenting programs and peer community walk alongside them every step of the way, ensuring that new parents succeed.

If you’re a transition-age youth in San Diego County or a social worker, educator, or advocate supporting someone, we’ll help you find the right program.

Donors, mentors, and community partners make this work possible. We make sure that 88¢ of every dollar goes directly to services.
