Walden Opens 3rd TAY Home in Riverside

Walden Family Services, a leading provider of foster care, adoption, and transitional housing services, announced the grand opening of their third transitional housing property in Riverside this year. This significant addition not only emphasizes Walden’s commitment to empowering transitional-aged youth in Southern California but also addresses the pressing need for housing in the region.

Located approximately two blocks away from a recently opened Walden TAY home, this new property boasts seven bedrooms, seven baths, and includes a 3-bedroom separate guest home. With close to 6,000 square feet of living space, the main home and guest home offer room for residents to establish their independence and thrive in a safe and stable environment.

The Transitional Age Youth (TAY) program at Walden Family Services is designed to nurture the educational and employment opportunities of young individuals between the ages of 18 and 21. These newly acquired properties will serve as the next step towards permanent housing and self-sufficiency for Walden’s young adults.

Sue Evans, COO of Walden Family Services stated, “The seamless acquisition and transformation of these properties into welcoming homes is a testament to the incredible teamwork and dedication within Walden Family Services. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to create spaces where our young adults can focus on building bright futures for themselves.”

As the only Homekey Project award recipient in Riverside, Walden Family Services is dedicated to optimizing the granted funds within the community. The newly purchased homes feature Single Room Occupancy (SRO) units, offering shared housing for multiple transitional-aged clients. In addition to secure housing, Walden will provide crucial support services, including case management, education assistance, and job and life skills training.

Established in 1976, Walden Family Services focuses on providing critical support to foster children, youth, and adoptive families across Southern California. Through diverse programs and initiatives, Walden aims to create stable, nurturing environments that enable children and young adults in need to thrive and realize their full potential.
