Meet Jen, a shining star from Walden’s THPPNMD (Transitional Housing Placement Program for Non-Minor Dependents)! 🌟
Before joining us, Jen was living with her grandparents and was referred to our NMD program by her social worker. Despite the challenges of switching continuation programs, she worked hard to reconcile with her siblings and plan for her future.
We’re thrilled to announce that Jen graduated from the Academy for Salon Professionals on March 20, 2024! 🎓
✨ She’s now gearing up for her state cosmetology exam and has already earned certificates in esthetician services and waxing. Jen’s applying to salons and dreams of working at the European Wax Centers. Her goals include passing the state exam, securing employment, and getting her driver’s license. 🥰🥰🥰
Meet Destiny
Destiny, a former foster child referred to the Walden Family Services, embarked on her journey with the Walden THP Program upon turning 18. Having endured the trauma of abuse in her birth home, Destiny found herself in the foster care system at a tender age.
Despite the challenges she faced, Destiny emerged as a remarkably resilient and determined individual. She confronted her abusive stepfather in court, triumphed over homelessness, and committed herself to pursuing an education. 👩🎓
Now, Destiny’s perseverance has led her to secure an internship at an interior design company through the support of Walden Family Services. 🏠 With a passion for interior design ignited, she is ready to turn this opportunity into a career.
